Good Beer Week is “the best beer week in the world”, according to many of the world’s leading craft brewers.

May 12 - 21 2017, Melbourne Australia

In just six years, it has grown from the spark of an idea to a global festival made up of 280 diverse and innovative events across Melbourne and Victoria that attracts fifty thousand attendees from across Australia and overseas.

Run by an independent, not-for-profit association, the program has grown almost 500 percent in size since launching in May 2011 and in 2016 it celebrated its sixth anniversary with a lineup that featured guests from five continents, big name chefs, masterclasses, sublime degustations, opera, live music and a fashion show.

It is Australia’s preeminent beer event, one that has inspired smaller imitators interstate and in New Zealand, and is well placed to achieve its founders’ stated goal of establishing the leading beer festival in the Asia Pacific region. It is the biggest single platform for local brewers and beer businesses to showcase themselves to a broad audience and also plays host to the Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) and the three-day GABS 2016, Beer, Cider, Food Festival at the Royal Exhibition Building.

To encourage more people into the good beer world, we divide the annual program into five streams to make it easier for attendees to discover what stage of their good beer experience they are at. These are; Foodie, Beer Lover, Beer 101, Beer Geek, and Good Times.

Held in May annually, the program begins with the Gala Showcase in March to promote the official program launch.

Event registrations open October 1st annually, and close on October 31. Please register with our newsletter to keep informed of important dates and information.

We will become respected leaders in festivals where others will look to us as setting the highest standards.  Our beer festival will showcase humanity at its best, not how beer culture is perceived today.  Good Beer Week will be all encompassing, embracing all that good beer and the local community has to offer.
