Into its third year, the Brew vs Cru dinner pitches beer against vine, brew against wine, in the ultimate battle for supremacy.

Brew vs Cru III puts Steve Wagner, co-founder of San Diego’s Stone Brewing Company, in the corner for beer, while Mac Forbes, owner of Mac Forbes Wines in Healesville, steps up for wine.

As Stone’s co-founder, president, and original brewmaster, Steve Wagner is the man behind the recipes for Stone classics including the original Stone IPA, Pale Ale, Old Guardian Barley Wine, and the one and only Arrogant Bastard Ale.

Mac Forbes has worked in the wine industry for the last 20 years, both in Australia and overseas as both a winemaker and consultant to the industry. He started his namesake winery in 2004 in the Yarra Valley, marrying together old world philosophy with the potential of the Valley.

But who of these two industry innovators will lead their team to victory? There is only one way to find out – taste your way through four courses of delectable dishes from Melbourne’s Vue de Monde at the top of the Rialto Tower, and decide for yourself whether wine or beer is the winner on the day.
