Get ready as we take you on a journey with 3 distinct and unique African beers, pairing them with a 3 course feast inspired from their country of origin.
We'll start you off in Ethiopia with the St George Amber which is perfectly matched with Berbere Wild Boar back strap with poached pear and candied walnuts. The beer pours a vibrant bronze colour, and the toffee sweetness and toasted malt balance give full flavour. The beer especially complements the spices found in Ethiopian food, of which Berbere is the most distinctive mix that flavours many of their dishes.
For the main course you will indulge in Kenya’s finest, the Tusker Malt Lager which has an unmistakably rich, smooth premium taste that fans of more robust lagers will undoubtedly come to love. The beer exhibits light maltiness, a subtle bitter finish and a hint of caramel. The beer is brewed from 100% ingredients that are all locally sourced in the African Great Lakes Region. This will be paired with a slow cooked beef short rib, with ful medames, mocha and bone marrow jus. A side of Masala chips with tomato, chilli, coriander sauce and roasted goats cheese, a Kenyan way of taking an average plate of fries to a whole other level, will keep you searching for that Tusker Malt to wash it all down.
Finally the dessert will feature the South African Hansa Pilsener & Koeksister dumplings. Hansa is brewed in true pilsener style, using the finest Saaz hops. Specially imported from the Czech Republic, these hops are responsible for Hansa's unique hoppy aroma and, most importantly, combine with the pilsener style of brewing to make Hansa crisp and flavoursome. The dumplings are syrup-coated balls with a sweet spiced flavour, served with date labneh and stout raisins that go especially well with the easy drinking beer.
